There are many types of fortune telling cards on the market these days and not all of them are tarot cards. The tarot is a specialised set of cards that have a very long history. Some have even claimed that they derive from the ancient egyption civilisation, but I think they are more likely to be european in origin.
A tarot deck is similar to an ordinary deck of playing cards in that both have four suits numbered from ace to ten. Im the tarot therse are reffered to as the minor arcana and instead of the suits being clubs, hearts, spades and diamonds, they are wands, cups, swords and pentacles. Unlike the ordinary cards, each suit has four court cards rather than three: king, queen, knight and page, making 56 cards in the minor arcana. In addition to the minor cards, the tarot deck has twenty-two 'extra' cards, known as the major arcana, these dont belong to any suit but have their own number (with exception of the fool),a symbolic image and a title.
I have studied tarot for many years, around 10 and have done hundreds of readings over this time, it is something I both enjoy and have a gift for. I do various spreads depending on the question(s) being asked and on the individual. I will include some examples of my readings (omiting names) shortly, keep your eyes peeled!
